Devlog 16: A New Chapter
Hello again, everyone.
It’s been a while—an entire year, in fact. We know the silence has been unusual, especially after how active our early development cycle was. Today, we’re finally ready to break that silence and bring you up to speed on everything that’s been happening behind the scenes with Genesis 1K.
A lot has changed, a lot has improved, and a lot has been learned. So let’s dive in.
A Year of Quiet, But Not a Year of Rest
Even though we've been silent, development never stopped. Over the last twelve months, we’ve continued refining the core systems that define Genesis 1K—the 1000-planet universe, alien creation, planetary lifespans, intergalactic trade, cosmic terraforming, alliances, civilizations, and the massive amount of content that ties everything together.
This past year wasn’t just about building new features—it was about strengthening the foundation. Systems that were once “good enough” got rebuilt to be exceptional. Planets were reworked to feel more alive. Alien species gained deeper behaviors. Civilizations became more dynamic and reactive. And the weekly post-launch planet pipeline was redesigned to ensure long-term stability.
We also spent time revisiting the early planets created in 2023 and 2024, upgrading them with new environmental tech, richer biome detail, and more meaningful exploration rewards. Many planets feel completely transformed compared to what they were a year ago.
A Secret Project That Took Shape
Alongside Genesis 1K, our team has been quietly developing a secret project. While we aren’t ready to reveal exactly what it is just yet, we can confirm that:
-
It is directly connected to the vast Genesis 1K universe.
-
It expands the lore and creative space in ways we didn’t initially expect.
-
It has influenced improvements in art direction, gameplay workflow, and worldbuilding systems for Genesis 1K.
This project wasn’t originally planned, but it became something we genuinely believe will improve your experience with the main game once both are in your hands.
We will reveal the project publicly this week, after just a bit more polishing and testing.
Why We Went Silent
After the “1 Year of Development” devlog, we entered a stage of development that was less about shiny new announcements and more about grinding through complex systems, technical rewrites, and planetary production pipelines. We didn’t want to release small, repetitive devlogs that said “we’re still working on it.”
Instead, we chose to go heads-down and focus entirely on building the game into the best version of itself.
That said, we recognize the value of transparency, and we’re committed to maintaining more consistent updates going forward—even when progress is more technical than glamorous. The next update won’t take another year.
Release Date Update
The ongoing refinement of large-scale systems and the additional work required by our newly developed internal tools have shifted our timeline once again.
We want Genesis 1K to be something truly special—an ever-expanding universe that thrives for years after launch. To achieve that level of quality without compromises, we’re officially moving the release window to:
Q1 2027.
We know this is a significant jump from the earlier estimates. We also know how disappointing delays can be. But we genuinely believe this timeline will allow us to deliver the game that you—and we—deserve. The universe of Genesis 1K has grown far beyond our early expectations, and we want to bring all of it to life at the highest standard possible. We can with absolute certainty guarantee that we will deliver with this release date. No more delays.
What’s Been Done Since the Last Devlog
Here’s a quick overview of what’s been accomplished in the past year:
Planet Overhaul
-
Over 300 older planets rebuilt or heavily updated
-
New weather systems, climate behaviors, and day-night features
-
Better reward structures for exploration
Alien Creation Expansion
-
More customization modules
-
New biological trait system
-
Improved animations and species interactions
Civilizations Upgrade
-
Fully dynamic population behaviors
-
Inter-faction relationships
-
Civilization quests and events
New Tools Behind the Scenes
-
Faster planet-building tool
-
Automated biome generator
-
Improved DLC integration framework
These tools alone have cut our iteration time massively and will allow us to continue delivering new planets weekly after launch.
What Comes Next
We’re entering a new phase of development with clearer communication. Expect more devlogs, more sneak peeks, and eventually more public-facing material.
Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing:
-
A behind-the-scenes look at select planets
-
A proper reveal of our secret project (this week)
-
A deeper dive into how alien creation has evolved
-
And potentially a roadmap for late-2026 testing phases
We’re excited to show you how far this universe has come.
Thank You
To everyone who has stuck with us despite the silence—thank you. Your patience, curiosity, and continued interest genuinely kept this project moving. Genesis 1K has become bigger, richer, and more ambitious than ever, and that’s because of the foundation you all helped build from day one.
We’re back.
We’re working harder than ever.
And we can’t wait to take this next step with you.
